The following may be supported by Diamond fund grants:
Assistant professor pilot funding: Pilot project funding is intended to develop and test research strategies focused on improving the health of older populations by forming collaborations to design and conduct research and implement research findings. These pilot awards are expected to involve SPH faculty in collaboration with local governmental agencies, healthcare organizations, or other community-based entities. Awards may be up to $100,000.
Ph.D. student pilot funding: Doctoral students in SPH can request support for pilot research, including data acquisition costs for projects meeting the Diamond Fund criteria listed above. Awards may be up to $10,000.
MPH/MA/MS Internship: Master’s students in the SPH may apply for regular or summer internship support (half or full-time) to conduct research in collaboration with Rhode Island community-based organizations, healthcare providers, or state agencies (e.g., Department of Health). This research must be relevant to older populations.
